Renewal & Retreat Movement

Core Values

Renewal Retreats have been functioning since the mid 70’s. The Movement has expanded into most branches of religious persuasions and includes men and women who have a desire for a Renewed/Restored faith journey. The following seeks to provide information and a framework for how the Movement is currently understood.

Purpose of a Retreat Group

To so create a small group environment of safety and trust where stories can be told, into which the Spirit of God can impart Renewal/Restoration concluding with a desire to invite others into the experience.

Core Values of the Movement

1)

The DNA of Retreat Groups is Renewal/Restoration.

At the heart of a Retreat Group is the goal of moving participants forward in their understanding of God, self, others and their sphere of influence.
2)

Including the God Factor.

This simply affirms the Retreat Group as essentially Christian, Biblical and Kingdom of God, in nature and focus.
3)

Creating a Safe Place.

This recognizes that Renewal and/or Restoration is accelerated within an environment of trust.
4)

Story Telling.

Each participant is offered the opportunity of telling their story in their own way. Within an individual’s story lies the seedbed for Renewal/Restoration.
5)

Three Phase Model.

Renewal/Restoration impacts on the Personal, Relational and Structural world.
6)

Multiplication.

"Evangelism" and "mission" are key to the inclusion of others.

Equipping

An Annual Training Event seeks to equip Facilitators of Retreat Groups in the “how to” related to the above core values, as well as understanding group dynamics and the skills required for this ministry.

Equipping emerges in the simple acrostic RTA:

Check mark

REPRODUCIBLE

Clear enough to pass on.

TRANSFERABLE

Flexible enough to fit a variety of group

ACHIEVABLE

Practical enough to implement.
